Brew It the Way You Like It - French Press

Posted by Hala Tree Coffee on Apr 3rd 2023

The French press coffee brewing method, also known as a press pot or plunger pot, is a popular brewing method that has been around for almost a century. It is believed to have been invented in France in the late 1800s, and its popularity has only grown since then. The French press is a simple yet effective method of brewing coffee that has many advantages over other brewing methods. The French Press coffee maker is arguably one of the most popular and most used methods for brewing coffee. Most of us either have it at home or know someone who does.

French Press guarantees:

- viscous brew with a fuller body

- increased texture due to more oils remaining in the final brew

- Fewer coffee particles

The French press brewing process involves steeping coarsely ground coffee in hot water for several minutes and then separating the coffee grounds from the brewed coffee using a metal mesh filter. What to expect from the french press brewing method:

  1. Full-bodied flavor: French press coffee has a full-bodied and rich flavor because the coffee oils and flavors are not filtered out as they are with other brewing methods. The metal mesh filter used in the French press allows the natural oils and flavors to pass through, resulting in a bold and flavorful cup of coffee.
  2. No paper filters: Unlike other brewing methods that use paper filters, French press coffee does not require a paper filter. Paper filters can alter the flavor of coffee and remove some of the oils and flavors that contribute to its taste. With French press coffee, you get a pure and unadulterated cup of coffee.
  3. Customizable: You have complete control over the brewing process with French press coffee. You can adjust the coffee-to-water ratio, the brewing time, and the grind size to suit your taste preferences. This level of customization is not possible with other brewing methods.
  4. Economical: French press coffee is an economical brewing method because it does not require any expensive equipment or paper filters. All you need is a French press, hot water, and coarsely ground coffee. It is a great option for those who want to enjoy high-quality coffee without breaking the bank.
  5. Environmentally friendly: Since French press coffee does not require paper filters, it is an environmentally friendly brewing method. It is a great option for those who are looking to reduce their carbon footprint and be more eco-conscious.

The French Press is one of the easiest and most versatile brewing methods. It comes in many different shapes, sizes, and materials. Many French press devices are made with glass, allowing you to see the coffee during brewing. If you want to keep your coffee hot for longer, some more sophisticated French Presses are insulated. It is very affordable and doesn’t require much skill.
