100% Kona Coffee, Kona Coffee, Kona Blend, etc. How can you as the consumer ensure you know what is in your Coffee bag? Kona Coffee is some of the best coffee in the world, but unfortunately “Kona Coffee” is used in so many blends and can be marketed to consumers in a confusing way.

Hala Tree Coffee takes this issue very seriously. They believe in transparency and want their consumers to know exactly where their beans came from, how they were processed and roasted. In an effort to make Hala Tree Coffee more transparent and give consumers all the information they need to know about the 100% Kona Coffee beans in their cup, they have decided to publish this information on each bag. The twist is they won’t be using printed materials to describe the bean’s journey.

Each bag will have a QR Code which can then be scanned by the consumer. This QR Code will bring you to a page unique to the coffee in that particular bag. This page will be full of information.

Consumers will know what date the coffee was roasted, who it was roasted by, what type of coffee bean, what process what used, what type of tree and what altitude the beans were grown at, the date of each step of the process, from picking to drying to when the parchment was turned to green, and much more. Consumers will literally have a detailed outline of where their beans have been, what they have been through and when.

This is one farm taking a big step towards ensuring quality for their customers. When consumers purchase specialty coffee, they want to be certain that they are getting what they are paying for. Hala Tree Coffee hopes that this gives their customers some piece of mind when it comes to asking “where did my coffee come from?”
